Child & Vulnerable Adult Protection Policy
The
High Wycombe and District Model Aircraft
Club (HWDMAC) Committee supports the BMFA guidelines
on Child & Vulnerable Adult Protection.
Specifically:-
We require all flying instructors working directly with junior/vulnerable adult members to be Criminal Records Bureau approved
As far as is practically possible we require a parent or guardian be present at the flying site whilst junior member/vulnerable adult is receiving instruction in model flying.
In the case of young people under the age of 14 years we require a parent or guardian always to be present whenever instruction or observation of flying procedures is being undertaken by that young person.
We require whenever possible instructors to carry out training using the “buddy box” system so that there is no need for physical contact between a child/vulnerable adult and an instructor. Except in the case of an extreme emergency (e.g. injury) under no circumstances will physical contact be made with a child/vulnerable adult without another adult being present.
Additionally the HWDMAC committee has directed through its Newsletter and briefings at Club meetings that all club members must ensure that any children/vulnerable adult and people accompanying visitors to our flying fields are closely supervised by another parent or guardian so as to ensure their safety at all times. An important aspect of this is directing visitors to not move into operational areas of the flying site, and always to be vigilant.
Any contravention of this policy is to be reported immediately to a member of the Committee.
